In today’s marketplace, artists are expected to act as marketers, designers, editors, content creators, accountants, and a billion other things, as well as artists. It can be hard to juggle so many different tasks and wear so many different hats while still trying to do what you intended to do: create. We’ve found some apps and websites to make things a bit simpler for you. Here are the must have tools for anyone trying to create a profitable creative business.



1. Masterclass


What it is: Masterclass is a website and app tailored specifically towards those trying to grow their skills. For a fee of $10/month, you are given access to thousands of classes in a variety of topics, such as art, cooking, writing, entertainment, and more!


Fees: While some resources are free, there is a paid subscription that opens all resources to you.


Great for: Sharpening your skills, learning something new, or expanding your horizons!




2. Pinterest


What it is: Pinterest is a social media site that artists and other creatives utilize to share blog posts, artwork, and more. It gives you the option to make “pins” with your own images or create “boards” utilizing images already available on the site.


Fees: No fees attached to creating an account! There are no fees attached to selling on pinterest, either.


Great for: Creating mood/vision boards, getting content, sharing your content, and building your brand




3. Canva


What it is: Canva is an accessible, easy to use graphic design tool available online. You’re given templates to choose from, a variety of shapes/designs to pick, and access to work created by thousands of other creators.


Fees: There is a pro membership available, but there are plenty of free templates and tools for anyone to use with their free membership!


Great for: Creating templates, editing photos, graphic design stuff, and creating a cohesive brand.




4. Wix


What it is: Wix is a user-friendly website making platform that can help you make a website without knowing all the ins and outs of coding and web design.


Fees: You can find the pricing information here on all the different options for creating your website.


Great for: Creating a website for freelance, businesses, portfolios, marketplaces, etc.





What it is: Hoo.be is a link management tool that can help business owners and individuals keep all their important links in one place. It provides you with a way to link all of your social media, websites, and anything else you might need in one place that your customers can access easily.


Fees: You can create an account for free, which will allow unlimited basic links and usage. However, if you want to be able to customize your hoo.be to make it match your brand, you’ll need to sign up for the Pro Plan, which is $6.99/month.


Great for: Content creators, influencers, business owners, and anyone else trying to keep all their important links in one place.





6. Adobe Creative Cloud


What it is: A pack of 20+ apps (including Photoshop and Acrobat Pro) that help with graphic design, video editing, photo editing, illustration, and social media.


Fees: While you have to buy a subscription, they offer a discount for students, teachers, and small to medium business owners.


Great for: Illustrators, artists, photographers, influencers, and pretty much anyone trying to build their online presence





7. Vision Creatives


What it is: Vision Creatives is a service that connect creators with jobs available in their area, making it a perfect tool to use whether you’re creating a project or looking for work yourself!


Fees: There’s no fee to sign up or start working; Vision does, however, take a small fee out of any profits made as a service fee. But that also means you don’t pay anything upfront!


Great for: Booking clients, finding gigs, and getting your name out there!




8. Spotify


What it is: An online streaming platform that gives you access to millions of different songs, movies, and podcasts from all around the world.


Fees: Spotify doesn’t require a premium membership to listen to music, but if you want commercial free listening, you’ll have to pay.


Great for: Creating playlists, discovering new artists, and listening to audiobooks.




9. Moment Lens


What it is: Moment Lens is a marketplace for photographers and videographers that has products, classes, experiences, and more available to anyone looking. Artists can apply to sell their products on this website, creating the opportunity for you to grow your business and expand to new audiences.


Fees: There is a pro membership available, but there are plenty of free templates and tools for anyone to use with their free membership!


Great for: Creating templates, editing photos, graphic design stuff, and creating a cohesive brand.





10. Pistachio


What it is: A website where content creators and companies can connect to promote their products. If you’re a UGC creator, they vet your social media and, if you meet the criteria, they start linking you up with brands willing to partner with you. For businesses, you can pay per piece of content or subscribe monthly to start working with influencers and content creators.


Fees: No fees for influencers, but brands pay to advertise.


Great for: Influencers, brands trying to build their name, small businesses, and content creators
